To go 17-3...........

you'd need both bundy and Gausman to go a combined 8-0.

Then you would need Wade Miley, Tillman's corpse and Ubaldo to combine to go 9-3 as well over that stretch.

Good luck with that.

Not holding my breath.    I'd be curious to know the last time the O's went 17-3.

10% chance the Os sneak into the wildcard game.

Still highly unlikely, but higher chance then I'm reading here.

So many players capable of doing more in the second half.  Britton being back could swing more than a few games our way.  The rest of the wildcard teams are also imperfect.

I'd like to see Blier and Aquino get some starts.

We'll see.  Its a streaky team.  If they stay close, who knows?

Things that realistically could go right (since I'm in the mood):

- Any of Davis, Trumbo or Machado could have 20 homers and 55 RBI in the second half -- maybe more than one of them.

- Hardy could come back and post a .650-.700 OPS the rest of the way while improving the defense.

- Gausman could post a sub-4.00 ERA in the second half.

- The rest of the starters collectively could pitch to an ERA one run lower than what they've done so far.

- The bullpen could blow 4 fewer saves than in the first half.

I'm not sure we'd need all five of those things to happen to make the playoffs, but we'd need at least three, and maybe four.     And, we'd need to avoid major slippage from those players who had good first halves.
