And that's the problem with pitching prospects.  They either can't make it as SP's or they get hurt.  Sometimes all of the above.

Grow the bats.  Buy the arms.

Except we never have bought arms and likely never will. Just because they are risky doesn't mean we should pass on a guy like Buehler if he's available.

Alex Verdugo, Walker Buehler, and Trayce Thompson please

Pretty meh on Trayce Thompson. He's struggling mightily this year. But I mean, as a 3rd piece he would be a solid flier.

Yeah, he's just a throw in. Change of scenery with regular playing time could help him.

If we do this right and deal guys like Castillo, Smith, Brach, hopefully Machado if the deal is right then I'd be all for doing moves like that. Jealous of the Brewers getting guys like Villar (struggling a bit this year though, but last year he was ridiculous) who were kind of stuck behind guys/struggling at times just to get a change of scenery and go off.

No they shouldn't but convincing the owner and DD they should do something like that is kin to pulling teeth out of a tiger. But if there is a chance of obtaining a good pitching prospect that chance needs to be taken.

Let's say it was Sisco, Hays, Scott and Palmeiro.

There's some people that would do that for 3.4 cheap years of Quintana.

Still doesn't beat the Cubs offer....

A top 10 prospect (think he was top 5 in a couple rankings) is worth loads more than a top 40-50 prospect like Sisco as a headliner. Cease is killing it this year and has front line potential too.

Except the cubs have a young roster and prospects to replace the guys they traded. They can afford to make that deal. We trade those 4 and have no one to replace the with.

Just making it Orioles relevant.  The Cubs now only have one top 100 prospect.  I bet you'll see some guys for them sneak into the top 100 real fast because you know, the Cubs.
