This feels disturbingly like the Twins series of 2015

The 2015 rotation had Wei-Yin Chen and an (almost) good Ubaldo. It was much easier to watch.

Even Chris Tillman's then-career-worst 4.99 ERA would have been a step up...

As bad as the rotation was, the Orioles would have still made the playoffs if they had re-signed Nelson Cruz. The corner outfielders and DH were a train wreck that year. Paredes, Parra, Snider, Reimold, Young, Lough, DeAza and Pearce combined had a WAR below zero while Cruz had a 5 WAR season for the Mariners.  Heck, Travis Snider was actually the best of the bunch by a long shot (1.0 WAR). If they had kept Snider as the everyday LF for the entire season and had Nelson Cruz as the RF/DH, the Orioles would have likely won 87 or 88 games and made the playoffs similar to what they were able to do last year.

In Game 2 of the 2015 series, the Orioles fell behind 1-0 before rallying to take a 3-1 lead.  The normally reliable Darren O'Day was brought on in the 8th inning to protect lead, and gave up 3 runs as the Twins went on to win 4-3.

In Game 2 of the 2017 series, the Orioles fell behind 1-0 before rallying to take a 2-1 lead.  The normally reliable Mychal Givens was brought on in the 8th inning protect the lead, and gave up 4 runs as the Tigers went on to win 5-2.

Yeah.. very similar. We just don't win these games in odd years. Better luck in 2018.

We brought the infield in that night. It backfired.  We brought it in tonight. It didn't matter but I remembered that.

Seth Smith misses a HR by inches.

Botched call on Caleb.

Bad luck prior to Slam.  Two dunked in hits in RF. A great pitch that Kinsler hits so weakly it advances both runners.

dinks, dunks, bad luck.   Sounds like that Twins series to me!

This is the hardest loss for me this season. It was a huge game, it was there for the taking and we dropped the ball.

We keep losing tough luck games on Friday's.

Brach blown game vs Tampa, one pitch away.

The implosion in NY early in year.

Great comeback vs Cubs, down 8 we tie it then lose on another Brach HR.

The Orioles wound up splitting the 4-game series with the Tigers.

Friday night's loss after Gausman pitched 7 innings of 1-run ball hurt.

The reverse curse bailed us out. Watching Orioles baseball = fun, once again. Twice again, actually.
