Well you could have picked up A.Jackson for 2 yrs (6m)  hit  .318 last yr w/ Cleveland  and much cheaper than smith. Ack. Is a .991 fld.%.in 5pos. Great glove ,#2 overall draft in '09. Still has upside and can sign him cheap.

Oh boy I guess you got your boy Alex Presley.  Ackley is much better with twice the rbi's and alot more HR 's and also can play 2b and 1st as well.  Good luck .

Seriously.     When last seen in the majors, Ackley was putting up a .390 OPS in 2016.    That earned him a year in the PCL where he had a .716 OPS in the most hitter-friendly league in the world.  Of the guys on his team with at least 100 PA, Ackley ranked 13th in OPS.

It has to be one of the most random non-Orioles to be discussed on this forum consistently over the last ten years.  I mean, Dustin Ackley is SO random.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't be against signing Ackley to a minor league contract. If he was really trying to come back from an injury last year it could explain his poor numbers. Couldn't hurt to have him at Norfolk as depth.

It doesn't bother me that a guy comes on and pushes some player he likes. We are all fans.

I met Dustin Ackley when he in the AFL. Great kid. Fun to watch and be around. He was almost as good as Brandon Snyder and Grant Desme.  That year.
