The O's scored  732 runs in 2017.  That is 4.6 runs per game.   The Orioles showed a graphic on the O's broadcast that if any team scores 4 runs they win 70% of those games.   At approximately the one third mark on the season the O's are scoring 3.7 games.   That is the problem with this year O's offense.

Here is a list on 2017's O's  players vs O's 2018 players.   2018 games are multiplied by 3 in most cases. The bolded numbers show where the problems are this year compared to last year.

This seems to show that the biggest problems with the offense are is several areas.

 1) the players;  Schoop, Mancini and Davis are not preforming to the level they did last year.  Schoop's injury caused a lot of problems because the backups didn't perform well.  But backups will almost never perform as well as a star player.

2) At catcher Sisco and Joseph are not performing to the level that Castillo/Joseph did last year.  But would you really have wanted the suspended Castillo back?   Or to not  give Sisco his chance to graduate to the majors?

3) It maybe would have been smarter to bring back Seth Smith while waiting for the O's young outfielders to develop.  Or sign someone else.  This probably is a bad call by Duquette.

4) Offensively Valencia is filling in well for Beckham at 3B.

Overall, IMO its the players that have to take the blame for non-performance according to this analysis with Duquette only taking the blame for RF.
