Setting aside who the coach(es) should be, how many hitting coaches do you think we should have? Just one? Perhaps that is the right answer, but it certainly cuts against the trend in the rest of the industry. Of the 11 teams with at least 86 wins: - 2 had two hitting coaches (Dodgers and Braves) - 7 had three hitting coaches - 2 had four hitting coaches (Diamondbacks and Tigers) -
Maybe trade Mountcastle... or Mullins... or Urias... or all of them... for a bunch of lottery ticket pitching prospects? Or am I setting my sights too low? -

There's probably a better article than this but this is what I found quickly: https://www.mlb.com/news/homers-are-still-the-key-to-winning-in-playoffs I don't know where this idea came from that you want situational hitting and smallball in the playoffs. When it's hard to string together a rally vs tough pitchers, what you want is the big swing. I get that it's a higher variance plan but I'll take the better odds. -

Good luck with that. Robert is coming off a .657 OPS season. Probably not worth trading him especially since he will be playing on a $15 million option. Most teams aren't going to offer more than salary relief and marginal prospects. I just don't see the O's giving up what Getz will see as fair value. Best bet for the WS is to hope he rebounds and trade him at 2025 trade deadline. -
