It was past time a year ago.  Doesn't seem to have the mental makeup to execute at this level.  That said, he could be another Arrieta.  Which means he will be awesome for the next team that he goes to. Just won't be the O's.

Doesn't have Arrieta stuff.

This crazy fear that every pitcher we let go will turn into Arrieta...EdRod is really good, but Miller helped us into the playoffs that year.  Hader is amazing now, but it's not even with the team that traded for him, so he's had a lot of time and coaches to find his thing.  Mike Wright will never be better than an okay bullpen arm.

Arrieta was AMAZING many times in his early MiL and ML career. Just couldn't do it consistently here.

The O's have a bunch of guys at AAA to try in his spot.    Three are on the 40 man roster.   Yacabonis, Scott and Hart.  In addition  Fry, Meisinger and Faulkner all are pitching well.   Its not like there is no one to take Wright's place  in the pen.

Could he develop another pitch? Developing another pitch can turn a career around. You hate to give up too soon on a power arm.

I think his head is a much bigger problem than his arm.  He is symbolic of what is wrong with this organization.  Yes, he is terrible.  But somehow he remains on the roster because there is apparently nobody better to replace him.  That is just sad.
