Well Manny figured he already had an out recorded for the play at second. It doesn't help his stats if he is safe at first.

I so hope the Yankees sign him to a long contract.  He will be persucted in the New York press and I don't see Manny lasting past 30.

Actually if he beat the throw to first he would have been credited with an RBI groundout.

Kind of hope he ends the season with 99 RBI's

Never been a big Manny fan, but his lazy unfocused play has been enabled thru the years by Buck Showalter.

He would have been a much better player under say Joe Girardi.

There's no way to prove this.

No like most statements on a message board it is an opinion.

But it is a fact that Manny has had multiple lapses that have not improved over the years, although most will give him a pass this year for mailing it in because the O's are not in contention, and are not even remotely competitive.

Manny does have lapses, but I am not sure how Joe Girardi would have made him a better player.  He couldn't even move an aging and defensive liability in Derek Jeter off shortstop.

Derek Jeter had failing physical abilities

I don't watch that many Yankee games, but I never see them have the type of mental lapses that Manny has had and continues to have such as

1. Making third out at third base

2. Showboating on throws by holding onto the ball for a split second and then making maximum effort throw to get runner by a 1/4 step, except sometimes the runner embarrasses Manny and beats the throw on what should have been a routine play

3. Not hustling, especially on infield grounders but also on balls that he thinks were HR's only to get thrown out at second when he wakes up an starts running after HR trotting to first.

Well, I wouldn't be too sure of that.

"Actually, they say, the issue was more that Girardi wasn't tough enough on Sanchez behind closed doors, at least in terms of his practice habits, which may have led to the catcher regressing defensively, compared to his rookie season.

Essentially the Yankees felt Sanchez performed better behind the plate when first called to the majors in 2016, in no small part because he had been drilled regularly in the minors by former organizational catching instructor Josh Paul, especially in blocking balls in the dirt.

Paul used a pitching machine to pump high-velocity fastballs, as well as breaking balls, in the dirt at Sanchez, and the Yankees believe it made a difference in what is the young catcher's biggest weakness.

However, sources say that Sanchez grew tired of doing the drills and expressed that to Girardi going into last season. The manager, perhaps wanting to keep his young catcher happy or simply avoid a conflict, told him he didn't have to do all the extra work.

That may have led to more problems with passed balls, as Sanchez's total of 16 was the highest in the American League."

Jeter did have failing physical abilities, but my point is that Girardi couldn't get him to move to another position.  If he can't get a living legend to give up his spot on the field and move somewhere else for the betterment of the team, then I don't see how he'd get a player like Manny to hustle or do any of the above things that you mentioned.

Manny does have lapses, we agree on that.  But no player is perfect.  While I won't be grief-stricken that Manny goes, I'd have rather had him on the team here for the duration of his career than not.

Meanwhile, Manny forced his move to shortstop.  He went from being a gold glove 3B to statistically the worst SS.  It also gives other players the feeling that Manny thinks he is more important than the team.  No I'm not in the locker room, but its obvious Manny thinks he's better than the rest of the team, sort of a 24+1 situation.

I'm not sure if he "forced" his move to SS.  Seems like he asked for it, but I don't think Manny was holding anyone hostage or threatening to sit out.

I'll leave it to Manny's teammates to say whether he's a good teammate or not.  I'd be curious to know how many of them really care if he's at SS or 3B.

One of the loudest Boo's was coming from a guy right behind me in 256........he was unhappy about everything. He appeared to be in his late 50's early 60's ,besides being Drunk with a capital D he wanted to argue with the people around him including kids. If you are that distraught stay at home, you can get your drunk on much cheaper.

Im surprised at the users for allowing that, and if that fails, sending a txt to the oriole assistance number, will typically bring the police, and the has 2 choices, hush up, or be escorted out.

I am more surprised anyone was sitting in section 256 last night.  I  am sure there were plenty of seats in 244 and 246. So everyone should have slid on over.
