Could Schoop be the O's 3B of the future?

Both Wilkerson and Valera have more experience at 2B.  Both are switch hitters. Both will have options next year.

Maybe they extend Schoop and move him to 3B.

I keep asking this.  He hasn't had much time there to know but I think he'd do well.  I wonder if some others, eg Mountcastle, might do better at 2B.

I think Mountcastle is the O's DH after Trumbo is traded in July next year.

It would make sense if he wasn't a year away from free agency and team wasn't in rebuild mode. But since he is and they are, Schoop should be dealt. Either at the deadline or this winter.

They are not extending anyone. This is tear down. Save money. Punt. Play defense.

What?  Schoop is 26.  He will be in his prime in 2 or 3 years.   That statement  actually says the O's will extend him.

Yes he would be a fine 3B for years to come.  Strong arm, offensively hes going to keep progressing.  I think hes a better fielder than most give him credit for and range is much less of an issue at 3B than 2B.
