I keep asking this.  He hasn't had much time there to know but I think he'd do well.  I wonder if some others, eg Mountcastle, might do better at 2B.

I think Mountcastle is the O's DH after Trumbo is traded in July next year.

It would make sense if he wasn't a year away from free agency and team wasn't in rebuild mode. But since he is and they are, Schoop should be dealt. Either at the deadline or this winter.

Both Wilkerson and Valera have more experience at 2B.  Both are switch hitters. Both will have options next year.

Maybe they extend Schoop and move him to 3B.

They are not extending anyone. This is tear down. Save money. Punt. Play defense.

“Without getting into names, when the team decides to rebuild, part of the process is to project who you have on your current roster and in the minor leagues and look at the contributions they can add to your roster a couple years down the road,”

Now you've heard it from the Os.

Yes he would be a fine 3B for years to come.  Strong arm, offensively hes going to keep progressing.  I think hes a better fielder than most give him credit for and range is much less of an issue at 3B than 2B.
