Schoop, J. signed with the Twins. 1 year deal for $7 million.

Folks that signed early were the smart ones last year.

I did think he would end up with a better deal.  One year at under a win seems low.

I wonder if the O's ever made him a long term offer?

Maybe that info will come out soon, now that he is off the market.

The Twins also signed Torreyes today too, so they were aggeessive. Maybe that had an inpact?

He did about as well as I expected.   And he may have wanted a one-year deal in the hopes of improving his position in 2019.

One of these days I’m going to come up with a salary prediction model that’s better than a linear function of WAR.    It’s pretty clear that teams don’t pay on that basis.

What is the status of Mike Yastrzemski?   I know he has 6 season on minor league experience which makes him eligible for free agency.   Did he declare free agency?  Is is still in the O's organization?

He is still listed on the Tides roster, which wouldn't happen if he was a free agent. Maybe he didn't declare for free agency.

To qualify as a minor league free agent:

Q. How long are Minor League players required to remain with the team that drafted them before they are eligible to negotiate with another team?
A. According to Major League Rule 3(b), "All Minor League Uniform Player Contracts between either a Major or a Minor League Club and a player who has not previously signed a contract with a Major or a Minor League Club shall be for a term of seven Minor League playing seasons."

See sample minor league contract here (Article VI):
