He was just ahead of his time.  Through 1991 there had only been 10 players with RBI less than or equal than 2*HR, ever (min 200 PAs).  In 1992 both he and Rob Deer pulled it off.  Since 2016 eight players have done it.  That's what happens when lineups are all guys with 24 homers, 39 walks and 188 strikeouts. 

Joey Gallo went 41/80 in 2017.  Prior to 1990 the record for fewest RBI with 40 homers was Duke Snider's 92 in 1957.  He's now in 7th place.

I have a gmail account solely to send emails to all my friends about how duckduckgoose.com is so much better.
