Are we sure DD doesnt still work for the Os? In all honesty, this seems like a pretty good add, and for $250k less than Zoellner.

He's a tweener with enough raw power to be a regular, but hasn't been able to get to enough of it. So it's a throw him into the mix and maybe he can hit the ball in the air a bit more and unlock something.

But does the tweaking + upside make him rank better than almost anyone they have now (Santander, Hays, Diaz, Mullins, Stewart, even Eric Young Jr.?)

Umm, he's got a higher floor than Santander. He's controllable unlike Young Jr. He's got a better ceiling than Stewart. If you think Mullins has to move to LF because of the arm, he's pretty much a similar guy. I wouldn't rank him above any of them except Santander, Young, and Rickard in future value.

If they plan on keeping Hays + Diaz in the minors, he's not competing with them. Plus Smith has an option, so he just needs to be better than Osich honestly.

I feel that Elias wouldn't randomly grab a guy unless HE sees something that a lot of others don't. 

I like what I'm seeing in Spring Training and I know we've got a long way to go, but these younger guys are playing with confidence and poise. They're not perfect, but there's some spark in there. 

Dwight Smith Jr could falter but he could also blossom into something special. 

Gotta take the chance with new talent now. We've no other choice. 

Let's hope for the best.
