Aaron Lee Brooks had his best outing in his last game since he pitched 6 Shutout Innings for the Athletics all the way back on April 1st, and his best outing since being selected off of waivers from those Athletics on July 6th.

In addition to having pitched 8 Shutout Innings in his most recent outing, Patrick Alan Corbin has been one of the most consistently solid starting pitchers in baseball over the past 2 seasons (2018 and 2019.)

Good, Hanser in the lineup.  After his blow to the head Sunday I was worries we'd have to face a tough lefty with the best batter vs lefties in MLB out of the lineup.

A 2nd consecutive solid outing for Brooks ........ and another solid, consistent outing for Corbin.

Maxwell M. Scherzer is having yet another dominant season, on his way to what is almost undoubtedly a Hall-of-Fame career.

Randall Asher Wojciechowski is a funny guy.

That is an absolutely brutal 5-9.

Maxed out on lefty bats (7 of 9).

Scherzer career splits:

LH hitters hit .244/.311/.404  .716 OPS vs him

RH hitters hit .198/.244/.332 .577 OPS vs him

I mean, he's good either way, but that's still pretty extreme split.

Plus, we don't have much choice with the #9 batter, being that there is no DH with the game to be played in a National League stadium.

John Alan Means appears to have gradually  bounced back since the outing just prior to his minor injury last month.

He had a bad outing in his final game prior to the injury against the Diamondbacks, and another bad one in his first game back against the Yankees after coming off of the IL.

In the outing after that (also against the Yankees), he showed sings of dominance in the first 3 innings before the New Yorkers smacked him around in the 4th.

Then he pitched reasonably well (not great, not bad) against the Royals.

Then he had what was arguably his best outing of the season against the Rays in his most recent game, throwing 7 Innings of 1-Run Ball.
