No reason he couldn’t be sent down right after game if he throws multiple innings today. Could save Yac from going down.

Yeah most likely he gets sent down after the game. Pedro was going to be released when Cobb came up.  Might as well release him today and get someone who the manager won't be afraid to put in a game for tonight's bullpen game.

Maybe we'll get lucky and find a team that sees something in him and is willing to trade $250K in slot money for him and keep him on their 25-man roster for 10 days.  Perchance to dream.

If you have a 40 man spot not much of a risk. Plenty of bad teams.

Well that’s a strange move. It might make sense if anybody but a nobody was coming up. I don’t see Wotherspoon staying on the 40 man roster for very long and regardless both him and Araujo would be mop up pitchers anyways.

Have to wonder if club playing a little better out of gate played into this. They wanted to keep him but saw how much it impacted Hyde using the pen.

Did not see this coming. This regime has no allegiance to Aruajo, but if he ever turns into even a serviceable middle reliever, this move will look super dumb.

Even if you believe Aruajo isn't worth a 40-man roster space, there are still lesser players than him currently on the 40-man roster.

With him being DFA'ed after a bad game, that could be a factor. He doesn't look serviceable and the Orioles can get him off the 40 and if there are no takers and the Cubs go "uh, no," they can stash him in Frederick or Bowie and work on him.

He was most likely getting off the 40 at some point, might as well do it at his low point instead of wasting another week.

Why wouldn't the Cubs take him back? He wouldn't have to go on their 40-man roster if they took him back.

They might not think he is worth sending money back to the Orioles, or they might not want to deal with him.

Never know with teams.

Hmmmm.

Traditional logic would say that we should just wait another week or 10 days or whatever until he loses his Rule 5 status.    Then we can stash him.

Only reason to get rid of him now instead............is if you think that getting a marginal upgrade NOW during that time period is worth more to your franchise than the potential future value of the player.

Wait a second.............

So if we're prioritizing the present over the future.......................

Does that mean?

Could it be?

Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing?

We're ALL IN BABY!!!!!!!!!

Or you have decided the he isn't worth a slot on the 40 man.
