If he wasn't going to apology he should have just stayed silent. There was no reason for the Red Sox to have to quote him in that press release.

It was presented by both parties as a mutual decision to "part ways" not the firing it actually was.  It would have been bizarre for him to say nothing.

I think it’s kind of offensive that they referred to it as a “mutual separation” or something like that. It paints the picture that he agreed to step down on his own, Instead of quitting before he was thrown out on his butt.
