Sad times that I immediately know who Dr. Birx is. And I barely turn on the TV. Only read the news maybe twice a week. Just sayin'...

Amen. I’m glad she’s involved, and Dr. Fauci, and Admiral Giroir. It really supports the thesis of Death of Expertise...we’d be so screwed without people like them.

IMO, you get it straight from Fauci and Giroir. Birx not so much. Part of the problem is that she's not very skilled at explaining things to a lay audience.

I'm getting close to the "no politics" line, if not over it, so I'll stop right there.

Full disclaimer, I have not read the most recent proposal, but my first thought was Arizona has 16 MLB size stadiums?   Or I am guessing multiple games a day at the stadiums which qualify, but do they even have enough for that?

Edit:  Doh!  Spring training stadiums.  As soon as I hit submit it dawned on me....

There's 10 spring training stadiums, plus whatever they call the D'back's stadium now. All basically in Phoenix.

16 might be a stretch.  They could do like they used to in the 1800s: you build a new one out of wood in three weeks and hope it doesn't collapse on opening day.  Less risk with no spectators.

Psst...if they have a contract, and they all do, they will be "forced" to play.

That's actually not true.  Generally there is some sort of force majeure clause in all my contracts.  Of course, I am not in the business of professional player contracts, but I would assume that there is some clause that if the team voided their contract could be taken to court.  My assumption is it will be, if you don't feel comfortable playing, we'll put you on an exempt list and you won't get paid.  I won't say any judge would find for the player, but it'd be hard to find for a team owner forcing a player to play or void the contract during a global pandemic.

Also where the Sun Devils college team plays.COC said they could also play on some of the back fields where the minot leaguers play. Not sure what it would look televised.

I say they should also play in Sun Devil Stadium, configured either like the LA Coliseum or the Polo Grounds.  At least one sub-250' line, and CF goes on forever.  Because why not?  It's already a crazy season.

I saw a small snippet of a funny video with a woman who cut a bra in half and made a mask out of that. Even if it's not CDC approved I guess every little bit helps...

You should see the deaf guy showing how to make a mask with briefs.  There is also a british woman video showing her and her husband wearing thong masks.  Its.....different, but I guess its better than nothing.

I really think the baseball plan is the most assine things ever.  Read things about NYC.  Policeman went to emergency room for Covid-19 and they said he was fine and should just rest at home. Dies on sidewalk outside of hospital.  Most likely because hospitals was already full of people.

Really we don't need baseball at this time.  And there plan is about as dumb as they come.  Here is an idea shut-down. Wait until they tell you social distancing should end.  Start up schools for a month. If we don't have another outbreak than think about starting sports up again.

We don't have time or methods to test people daily or care for them in hospitals or them to spread this all over the place.  They have enough money. They should stay home and relax or volunteer to help.
