At this point, Elias should just IL Mounty and that buys him some time to see Mayo up here and builds in an excuse if Mayo were to flop.
I don’t think Elias wants to come off Urias. But… what is best case scenario for Urias in the playoffs? He’s a defensive replacement? When? We like Westburg at 3B and Mateo at 2B.
Bring Mayo up, if he kills he stays and we trade Urias to an NL team for a non 40 man prospect. Bradish can be 60 day IL’d for the 40 man spot for Mayo. So we don’t even lost a player.
Mayo has forced the issue. Who cares if we don’t get as much value back for Urias as we think. Urias is in such a niche role for us.
One positive about Scherzer is that he’s pitched for so many different teams does home/road in the playoffs probably doesn’t matter to him. Let’s say it matters a lot less to him than someone like Grayson.
Scherzer could be our road dog literally.
Yup. Relievers can also make a minor adjustment on a pitch and go on 0.00 ERA 10 appearance run. Happens all the time. So maybe we see something there and he’s willing to go to AAA for us and work on it.
Also, AAA needs innings eaten too in the 2nd half.
Maybe we send Akin down for a be of a de-load until after the ASB. We can only send Vespi down maybe one more time before we have to DFA him because of the rule in the CBA about being optioned so many times.
and/or
We start Irvin in Oakland because it’s at Oakland in that ballpark. But, I think we back off Irvin too, and let him be the long man/third lefty while one of Akin/Vespi is in AAA.
We could de-load Akin and Irvin in one fell swoop.
Seatle is near the bottom in most offensive categories (other than walks) -- 27th in both runs scored and OBP. If Kremer doesn't hold this lineup to a couple of runs over four or five innngs (I'm assuming a pitch limit around 50-75), he's probably not ready to pitch in MLB.
