ONE DOLLAR.

Is this true?  If so, the commissioner should void the trade and fine the teams.  There is only one purpose for a deal like this, and that is to allow the Yankees to jump to the front of the waiver wire line.  Blatant manipulation of the rules, IMO.

I can't tell if you guys are joking or not.  Brantly is a below replacement backup catcher.  I don't see how this should be an issue.

Not a matter of your or my opinion of the player.  This is a clear avoidance of the waiver wire rules.  The commissioner needs to step in.  Maybe next time it will be a player that you feel is worth something.  Just can't allow this kind of thing.

It's happened before, and recently.

Not as if they had an under the table agreement to trade next season's international slots or something.  Now the commissioner would slap down something like that.

The commissioner should never allow it.  Why have rules to govern transactions between teams if the will be so blatantly evaded.  What if a team with a worse record that needs an experienced back-up catcher?  Why should they have to watch the New York Freaking Yankees flaunt the system and "trade" a dollar for the player so that the proper waiver wire order is bypassed?  Why have rules?  Why have a commissioner?  And more to the point, why have THIS commissioner?

Why not?

There is precedence, recent precedence.

If it wasn't the Yankees would you care?

Yes, hence the word "never."  The commissioner should never allow this.  Never.

Apparently, you don't see why there is a waiver wire order.

This was probably done as a favor to the player.

I don't remember, were you upset when you found out Dan blatantly violated the rules?

Exactly how much should the player have been sold for you not to be upset?
