On this day in 1970, the Orioles defeated the Detroit Tigers 6-3.

Boog Powell (2 for 3, 1 R, 3 RBI) hit his 31st homerun and Frank Robinson (1 for 3, 2 R, 1 RBI) hit his 22nd.

Marcelino Lopez recorded his first win of the season with a 5.2 scoreless inning effort in which he allowed 3 hits and 7 walks while striking out 3.

Jim Hardin allowed all 3 Detroit runs in two-thirds of an inning.
