#50THANNIVERSARY

On this day in 1970, the Baltimore Orioles beat the Cleveland Indians 9-7 in 13 innings.

The winning runs scored on a terry Crowley 2-run homerun.  Pete Richert made the difference stick with a 3-up, 3-down 13th inning to record his 7th win of the season.

Mark Belanger went 3 for 7 with 1 RBI in the marathon while Bobby Grich went 3 for 7 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Dave McNally started and tossed 8.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts.

The game needed extra innings after Orioles relievers Eddie Watt and Tom Phoebus allowed 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th including a Ted Uhlaender pinch hit, 3-run homerun.
