So when do we get to the building part of rebuilding?

This still looks like the tearing down part.

I thought it would be now...

But apparently somebody waving the smell of new pitchers in front of Elias was too much for him.

Pat Valaika is not an everyday player because no one has played him everyday yet.

Sanchez has limited reps because he hasn't has the reps yet.

Valaika actually has a fine fielding pct at 2B... and will hit 30+ homers

Bannon at 3B

This is the rebuilding Orioles

You are looking at this much different than me.

There are reasons why these players didn’t have those chances or played those positions.

Once again long term next year may not matter but this isn’t good to see.

Is he your best option at the moment?

It is December 2nd.

I think Richie Martin is more likely to be the Opening Day shortstop than Yolmer Sanchez, but I would bet on it being someone currently not in the organization over either of them.

Sometimes those reasons are valid. Sometimes not.

In Valaika's case he has some ML infield innings under his belt... and as long as you keep him away from SS... he's passable...  And he's got enough ML at bats to know he'll hit and hit well.

In Sanchez's case... he's better than Martin

Entirely possible...  maybe even likely.

But it's more fun to speculate with non-imaginary pieces

Stallings just before Peek and Brnovich that Angels draft class.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?team_ID=ANA&year_ID=2019&draft_type=junreg&query_type=franch_year

His 5th round bonus was in the bottom half of the round, but more than all but a few 6th rounders.

If it was the same Angels GM, I'd say more of one man's trash another's treasure, but this is the new guy.   I guess we have someone liking the same stuff the Angels did that year.
