And then to throw salt on the wounds, when he pitched for us he sucked. Rich Hill hates Baltimore. lol

Lol!   He was hurt a lot that season.  Started the year on the IL for six weeks (back or oblique injury, I think) and went on the IL again at the end of July for TJ surgery.  Definitely not his year.  To his credit, he persevered.

Yeah, obviously I'm joking. His resurrection is pretty amazing. He could probably be very successful pitching in the new Camden Yards.

He's lasted 18 years by eating our lunch. No matter what team he pitched for all Rich Hill had to do was throw his glove on the mound and our guys couldn't hit him with a shovel.

I know this was intentional hyperbole, but take a look at Hill's career splits and you'll see that the Giants, Cubs, and Braves have had either a worse or just as hard time hitting against him. For example, Hill has an 8-2 / 2.34 ERA vs. SF and 5-0 / 2.63 vs. Atlanta. Versus the O's?: 5-1/ 2.47.

Except for one 14-start season with the A's, Hill's top seasons have been in the NL and so it really can't be said that his long career has been thanks to the O's.

I am pretty sure I can hit rich hill better than most of the Os.

Rich Hill has a career 3.86 ERA and has always had one of the best curveballs in major league baseball, to which he has added a variety of breaking pitches the last few seasons. The Giants and Braves are a combined 13-2 vs. Hill with an ERA in the mid-two's.

April 1

Batting Urias leadoff 0 for 5 with 5 KS

Top of the ninth, up by one, two outs, two runners on, letting Mateo bat with Vavra, Stowers and Frazier on the bench. Then, taking out the gold glover, Urias, for Frazier in the bottom of the ninth for defense when he could have had the $8 mil man, Frazier bat for Urias, put him at 2B, Urias at 3B (where he won a gold glove) and Gunnar at SS

Bahama O’s Fan for the win.  It should have been Vavra to hit, with Frazier coming in for defense, but any of them would have been a better choice.

So you weaken your most important defensive position with a lead?

No, you move Gunnar to SS, and he is very good, especially considering Mateo had injured his hand. Urias goes to 3B, where he is a hold glover. Frazier went to 2B anyway, so that's a moot point

And these are not hindsight, during the game it was confusing

Absolutely!  Hyde had three better options at the plate.  Henderson’s defense at short is more than good enough to justify the swap.  And Jansen just murders righties.  He just has to make that move .

If they were worried about Mateo then he doesn’t stay in. It’s Game 2. You aren’t taking him out there.
