If he doesn’t take BPA at #1 it would be really bad and send a horrible message to the fans If Elijah Green continues to be the undisputed #1 prospect in the 2022 draft and Elias bypasses him to go underslot...it will be quite the day to be lurking on OH. The only knock I've seen mentions holes in his swing. I feel like that is what we target, so it's probably not something we avoid. And we like outfielders. Only true knock is he isn't a college pick. Hmmm.
NelsonCruuuuuz
What are the odds Elias actually selects Greene and doesn't go underslot? Also, one thing I think that is important to bring up is that when Showalter came here he talked about winning is a cultural thing and he even said Spring Training games were important to set a tone. Be competitive in all games. Clearly Elias doesn't follow this thought process.... How do you turn this massive dumpster fire around when some prospects arrive? Do you think that will be super easy? Does Elias have any experience in doing this or just as a scouting director?

He is touted as of right now as the best player in the last 5 drafts. I feel like I hear that about some guy about 3 out of every 5 drafts. If we end up at 1-1 (not a foregone conclusion despite our current death spiral), I do hope there’s a clear choice and we pick him, as we did with Adley. By the way, that’s looking like a very strong class, and not all classes are equal.

Where's the Frobby I know and love who gets irritable when people start projecting 1-1 draft picks this far in advance?

I am not one nor do I know (Tony may have some insights) but from what I am hearing, he isn't like everyone else and is a legit #1. But again, your point is right, things can happen: injuries, holes in his profile exposed, etc.

He isn't the flavor of the month that will easily be replaced by someone else by next spring. Obviously things can alway change, but Green has a very good chance at remaining the #1 prospect in the 2022 draft. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/31534437/are-2021-rockies-worst-offensive-team-modern-baseball-history Quote This race to finish last could be an important one: The top prospect in the 2022 draft is high school outfielder Elijah Green, a powerful premium athlete, who right now stands as the most clear-cut No. 1 overall prospect since Bryce Harper. Aglets
Another Outfielder?!?! Great, just what this team needs. How will we make room for him over Mullins, Kjerstad, Cowser, and Diaz??!?!

And I don’t doubt at all that right now this guy is looking like the consensus no. 1 pick. I just feel that a year is a long time and things can change. We’ve seen that happen numerous times. It’s interesting that, as clear a no. 1 as Harper was, he only ranks 4th in that draft in rWAR right now. Sale, Machado and deGrom are all ahead of him by 5+ rWAR. It still wouid not be surprising if Harper overtook them, especially the two pitchers, who are older. So I don’t think anyone would complain that the Harper pick wasn’t a good one. But I’m rooting for Manny to stay on top of him.

Mullins could be having a Schoop-like, one-year-wonder season for all we know. Hays has struggled to stay healthy and produce. DJ Stewart is DJ Stewart. If anything, they need more.

Aglets
OK guys I am now open to the possibility that it might be worth drafting a transformational talent at 1:1 who is as highly touted as Bryce Harper. Even if it costs Diaz some AB in the future. Thanks.
Moose Milligan
It'd be nice to have a prospect/athlete in the system like that. All in for Green, ya'll.
