IF Prieto doesn’t start at at least Aberdeen, I greatly question signing him to begin with.

I've heard the Cuban league is equal to High A ball, and the best teams close to Double A level- Prieto, if signed, I think should start at Aberdeen.

I think Abereen makes sense but if the Cuban League is like high A, then this kid just hit .400   OPS over 1.000, and had a 3:1 walk:strikeout ratio.  I'd say that warrants a promotion. And even if you argue the Cuban League is like low A, I'd say numbers like that warrant skipping a level.  Aberdeen makes sense EXCEPT that's where I expect Norby to start.  I would think Bowie would be a suitable challenge for Prieto.

Lost track a bit here - what are the names of the actual players we are being associated with or projected to sign at this stage?

Braylin Tavera - CF - RH hitter and thrower - turns 17 next month. Bonus between 1.5-2M

Leandro Arias - SS - hits LH - turns 17 next month. Bonus under 1M but thought to be closer to 1M than 500K

Cesar Prieto - Cuban - 2B - LH hitter - turns 23 in May.  Bonus either 650K or 750k

 

Our bonus pool is over 6M.  Looks like we've spent about half. 3M-4M left.  Like last year expect 5-6 signings in that 300K to 500K area.

The rest will be lower level guys mostly under 100k.

Well, if that's the case, he OPS'd 1.042 at the equivalent of Aberdeen, so he utterly destroyed the equivalent of Aberdeen level opponents.  I hope they give him a bunch of playing time is Spring Training so that they can see what they have and use him accordingly.

We'll be lucky if Spring Training starts before Aberdeen's season.

Minor leagues have their own spring training.  That shouldn't be affected.  Watching Prieto against AAA, AA, A pitching from other organizations should, hopefully, give them a good idea where he should start.

Nope. Count me confused about your entire post then.  I read the post as there might not be a ST and the you know what I mean just a reminder about the current labor situation in MLB.  If you know that minor league ST will be business as usual, why the first statement about

I did not know what you meant.  My point remains the same. They'll be able to evaluate Prieto in minor league ST games to get a feel if AA is an appropriate level to start him.
