The Pirates just did a buy and sell.  They traded their aging, vet catcher with a good glove for 4 players and then signed another aging, vet catcher with a good glove to replace him.  

Smart.

We’ll have to see the non tender market after tonight at 8 pm. I’m guessing AR will be our only C on the 40 man until ST.

AR is not on the 40 and will not be until he is called up for OD or thereafter.

I suppose it's possible we invite a few catchers to ST and just keep 0 on the 40-man until a decision is made. That would be kind of wild though.

Yohel Pozo,  Yes, Pozo was non-tendered, but he’s been through far worse. One year ago, he and his family were living in a car in a Walmart parking lot after his Minor League contract had expired and the family funds had been sapped by hospital stays when his young son had a pediatric stroke. Pozo was taken by the Rangers in the Minor League phase of the Rule 5 draft and had a remarkable .337/.352/.622 slash at Triple-A Round Rock. He reached the big leagues and hit .284 in 74 at-bats. Catching help has been moving in this market of late, and the 24-year-old Pozo presents an interesting option.

.974 OPS in AAA. Great name. Fangraphs doesn't like his defense and had 0% CS, but he has to be an improvement over Severino, right?

If anyone guessed Nottingham they win. I still think we add one more. Probably Wynns. I don’t think we’ll be giving any mlb deals though. I’d like to see us bring in Suzuki on a milb deal.
