Numbers can always be compromised. If there’s philosophical differences, that’s the real problem.

Numbers can absolutely be compromised…unless you don’t Want to and are extremely far apart.

Money is what is driving this.  If you are ways apart money wise, that’s as bad, if not worse.

And btw, this is about philosophical differences.  The players don’t feel they are being valued enough.  They don’t feel the owners care enough.

Not being valued enough sounds like money to me.

I wonder if there is another elephant in the room as well. And, it involves money too. Isn't there a pending law suit brought by the union relative to the 2020 season? Haven't heard much lately but if so, that has to cloud negotiations and the owner's attitude too. I just feel the owners are going to tough this out regardless of any negative PR.  And right now - given all the givens - I look forward to a minor league season and the rest can take a flying s---- into a rolling donut.

They're working every angle they can to try and get around the fact that many if not most are no longer productive past their age 30 season.

It’s ironic.  They all buy into analytics to make more money (ie, 3 outcome, etc…) but yet it’s analytics that they are truly fighting against.

That sounds like an argument in favor of getting more money to the young guys: higher minimum salary, more money in arb pool, getting to FA quicker. All things the players want and the owners oppose. Who is trying to "get around" this fact exactly?
