I hope Nevin isn’t part of the youth movement.  I want good players for that.

He deserved the chance by earning it, I like that. Let’s give him some time & see what he does. Def not blown away by any Elias trades so far though. Bradish best trade? Liked Mateo waiver claim. Pedro. Santander/ Wells picks. He needs to be evaluating existing prospects and the ones they feel won’t make it, trade for assets. That’s what good orgs do, no?

Nevin is hardly an inspiring call up.  However, I have no problem with him getting at bats over the guys that are currently here and not producing.

If he can play average defense at 3B, I think he should be given every chance to stay there. Now of course Gunnar and Westburg are better prospects, but they aren't ready yet. Nevin is. I think he has some potential. We'll see.

Nevin has a AAA OPS of .737 and in AA he was .744.    I don’t see much potential there.   I’d be happy for him to prove me wrong.

I see that, but Nevin also has mlb bloodlines which Yas has shown can transform a poor prospect into a good one at a late age. Phil Nevin was the #1 overall pick in 1994 and had a long career. Its not impossible that he could improve into a good player.

Obviously the pro performances in their early 20's they have differentiated from each other, but regular plug that in their draft class, Tyler Nevin 5.29.1997 and Ryan Mountcastle 2.18.1997 were approximately the same guy.

Except that Nevin was a few months younger and got 50% more in Bonus.

Santander not in the lineup Roch said not sure hurt or rest day

There have been lots of times this season when, in a close game, the Orioles had RISP and one of their crappy hitters coming up, and I looked at the bench for a possible pinch hitter to find the cupboard familiarly bare. (Kind of like when you look in the refrigerator for something to eat or drink, don't see anything appealing, but look again an hour later even though you know nothing better will have shown up in the interim.)

I wonder whether Hyde's desire to have a more capable pinch hitter on the bench is partly responsible for the starter days off we're seeing.
