Adley is in the Show!

Show heads to the Pacific Northwest, where I imagine a big number of relatives will be on the ticket list.

The Mariners and Angels sounds like they together vented quite a bit of frustration this afternoon with seasons not going the way they wanted.

Today's batted ball at 104 might have been a little too low at 13 degrees to get to be a Barrel.

The way Adley is racking up doubles reminds me of Machado's early seasons. He led the league with 51 doubles in his first full season in 2013, but only hit 14 HRs that year.

A couple years later he began a five year streak of hitting 32+ homers.

Anyone else find it odd Adley didn't score on Arauz's single in the 9th? Couldn't tell if he held up on line drive or was just stopped at third. Ball was in right center field, not right at Robert, Mateo would have easily went to third with one out.

After batting .143/.226/.196 = .422 OPS in his first 15 games (14 starts), Adley has hit .320/.370/.640 = 1.010 OPS in his last 14.  His overall line is .226/.293/.406 = .699 OPS but it’s climbing fast.

Adley has been worth 0.9 rWAR, 0.8 fWAR despite not playing in the first 40 games of the season.  He’s on pace for 3.2 rWAR, 2.9 fWAR by the time the season ends, despite the missed quarter-season and the slow start.

B-Ref has his 162 Game Avg on precisely 5.0 this morning, somewhere in the middle in the beginning of the epic question of is he a good pro or an MVP candidate?

He is 15 at-bats behind Chirinos and 0.1 WAR behind the YTD 12th best Oriole, so if anyone ever wants to click on a current Orioles B-Ref page without him as the starting catcher or his picture, time is running out.

It was new to me on a broadcast this weekend Drew Rasmussen was at Oregon State with him (looks like Rasmussen 2015-2017 was two years ahead of Rutschman 2017-2019).   Rasmussen looks like he may pitch a lot of innings against these Orioles the next few seasons.

It looked like he held up on the line drive. In the replay all the baserunners kind of froze for a second.

Line drives keep ringing off his bat.  Now 6 straight games with an XBH including 5 2B and 2 HR.

Don't look now, but he's now slashing .298/.432/.730.  That isn't incredible, but the AL OPS was .697 through Sunday and he's a catcher, dammit.

It might be time to get excited he's actually good.

I assert, based on his play to date and not as a projection, he's the best player the Orioles have relative to his position and he's probably among the top 30 players in the AL.
