I still can't believe they added more playoff teams

Last year Toronto won 92 and missed the playoffs.  But it varies year to year.  The O’s made it in 2016 with 89.  Right now it looks like 89 or 90 will be the cutoff, but that could change.

If you mean what if they were playing this year by last year's rules, then not much difference for us considering Toronto, Tampa, and Seattle are all within 1 game of each other.

Life for the three teams in the WC spots would be quite different though. As it is they're most likely playing for seeding at this point, with the weird caveat that the lowest seed might be the most desirable, getting to face the AL Central in the first round.
