Been telling you guys that he cares more about “the show” Than he does the product.

Concerts, gambling, party zones, etc…that’s his focus, not the team.

And btw, this type of long term planning talk doesn’t give me hope that he will be looking to sell anytime soon.

Right, he wants additional revenue streams.

Just have the State pay to do it and he can just sit back and rake in the profits.

Isn't the Braves stadium outside city limits?

I think it is.

Funny you mention that because he brought up how Camden Yards changed that. How stadiums were built in the burbs off of highways.

Lived in Georgia for 14 months….it’s similar to putting the stadium in Belair.

I knew you would love that!!

I've been saying for years that I've never seen any evidence and it was nice to have Elias confirm it.

Would of course loved a follow question asking to him reconcile that fact with the pitch and inning limits they've been putting on Grayson.

Gotcha.

He really hammered home the idea of the stadium area being built up. How significant that is. I think he mentioned Detroit and maybe Texas?? as other clubs along with Atlanta where this has happened.

Detriot is not that built up ,unless you think Greektown is. The worst casinos around .

Also you have the Ravens wanting to build around the stadium. Be interesting to see who gets the concerts. Ravens and Orioles used to not like each other but it has gotten better. Ravens got Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks but have heard the Orioles also have gotten around three. One should be announced by the end of the month.

Ravens heads were also at the ceremony to rename the Baltimore Entertainment District to the Walk. This area is the area between M&T and the Horseshoe Casino.

The “old” Braves stadium was in town, but it was surrounded by freeways and parking lots. Nothing like Camden Yards or some of the other truly “downtown” stadiums. It wasn’t an easy walk to restaurants or any of the Atlanta tourist attractions. Like not really walkable at all. I have not been to the new stadium, but I think there’s actually more restaurants etc that you can walk to than at the old in-town stadium. The “old” stadium location was really weird IMO (I attended a number of games at the old stadium, including Cal’s last game there). Anyway, just wanted to point out that Atlanta’s situation is pretty different than Baltimore’s. Btw, I put “old” in quotes because the in-town stadium didn’t last long enough to really be old.

Supposedly moved to be nearer to their suburban fanbase?

Turner field was built for the Atlanta Olympics and repurposed-it hosted track and field events.  Because of the repurpose it was cookie cutter like and had crappy sight lines; it was in a less desirable area than the new park which is located much closer to the affluent northen suburbs, home of their fan base.  Many fans objected to traveling south of the city, in heavy traffic to see games and parking in sketchy areas.

Yes it’s close to restaurants and other stuff. It’s a nice area

I kinda understand why he's stayed away from press for all these years after listening to him lately. Reminds me of the Lincoln quote, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."

As I’ve seen you write many times, actions speak louder than words. I really don’t care if he ever speaks to the media, I just want the orioles to improve.
