I think the only reason Ortiz is here over Westburg is that he is on the 40 man roster. If that was reversed, I bet Westburg would be coming up

Bold prediction: Player who is not on the 40 man roster can’t  be promoted to the majors. 🤣🤣 I jest, I jest.

Westburg has to be frustrated he has earned this chance no offense to Ortiz but Westburg Is I thnnk  the better player

Westburg has more power but its hard to say which player is better.  They have different strengths.

The one thing we usually know is that defense is defense.  It might take a hitter some time to adjust to major league pitching, but you can usually count on a great fielder to be a great fielder immediately.  Maybe some outfielders have difficulty adjusting to having a third deck on stadiums and tracking fly balls.  But infielders don’t have that issue.

Not going to lie I didn't even know Kolozsvary was on the 26 man roster.

Just in case people were wondering if Kolozsvary will be back.  He signed and played today with Saint Paul Saints AAA (Twins) FYI  (Tony Wolters who is the Twins equivalent to Bemboom was put on IL today).  Change in location didn't change his results.  0-4, 3K, 0-1 on catching base stealers.  Were up 4-1 into 8th and blew it in the bottom of 8 and 9 to lose 5-4.  The loss by the Saints today make the magic number for Tides at 1.  So if this was an elaborate plan by Elias to assure the Tides of a 1st half win and playoff spot... Good on him.  (Please smell the sarcasm)

I don’t understand why Ortiz is up if we’re not going to play him. I’ve seen enough of Mateo for a while to justify Ortiz becoming the everyday shortstop for a little while to see what he has.

It is remarkable how much Mateo has fallen off. Through April he was hitting .347 with an OPS of 1.062 and 6 HRs with 83 PA
Since then in 139 PA, he has hit .160 with an OPS of .381 with no HRs.

I am also puzzled about the reluctance to give Ortiz any playing time other than at 2B vs lefties. If nothing else, Mateo could use a few days off and a chance to reset. I would love to see the April version of Mateo again, but why not give Ortiz a real chance to see what he can do? You can still play Mateo vs lefties and move Ortiz to 2B, but someone is going to have to hit at least a little bit at SS.
