Adley in the HR Derby

Wow, I guess MLB must be desperate for HR derby contestants to let a powerless catcher with ****ty exit velocities enter the contest.

Not a fan of this for a variety of reasons: 

1. that’s an exhausting event 

2. that event has proven to mess with players swing’s. 
 

3. going max effort like that is a recipe for injury.  Hasn’t happened to my knowledge in MLB but have seen that happen at amateur level a bit.

I understand and commend the man for marketing himself and the team but I don’t think it’s a prudent decision.  
 

With all that said I’ll be rooting for him

Loved watching this, this past offseason.  To get that back?  Maybe the HR Derby will reset him, who knows.

I almost never pay attention to the HR derby (except the year that Trey got in), but this seems like a really odd decision.  

On the other hand, Trey finished second and he only had 21 homers that year (but 35 his last full year in the majors prior to that)

At least he'll probably be done after the first round.

It’s not going to mess with his swing because he already has an upper cut type swing.

When I saw the post title I wanted to barf.  Maybe he can catch nine innings, too.

Park looks like it should play pretty neutral.

Maybe it'll get him going again going into the second half. He's been a lot more aggressive the last month or so as his numbers have tailed off a bit. A reset with some derby fun might actually be good for him.

Rutschman has a different stance and different swing in that video than he does in games.
