We all thought he was using that NTC as a mechanism to get a little something extra in his pocket for waiving it.  Looks like he actually meant it?  Weird, but ok...

3 division leaders haven't made any moderate to significant moves by my count. The Reds, Twins and Orioles. I can't imagine that happens a lot.

Three teams that can't just shoot from the hip and paper over any mistakes made with money after the fact. They need the moves they make to count.

It’s not a marginal gain.  Cease is significantly better than Wells.

Cease has a 4.15 ERA and a WHIP if 1.3 …..As bad as Wells has been lately  he’s a 3.80 with a 1.02 WHIP. Before you mention last year Cease’s ERA the 3 of his last 4 years is 4.25 ish. Last year was an outlier until it isn’t. Wells has hit dead arm and they should keep him down for 2 weeks and just doing a bullpen session 2-3 times over that period. Significantly better is categorically incorrect.

The White Sox are rebuilding, why do they want two guys whose clocks have already started?

The WS believe they can compete next year in a weak AL Central, otherwise they'd be moving Eloy and Lois Robert Jr.

If they are shipping out Cease, its not unreasonable to expect they would want to get a starting pitcher who is cheaper and has more years of control in return. Also, they have perhaps the worse defense in the AL and just shipped out one of their infielders (Burger). Urias replaces Burger and dramatically improves their D.

It's worth noting, E-Rod took an extended absence last year due to "family" or "marital" issues, and while I've never heard clarification on what those issues were, it suggests relocating his family mid-season might not be something he's interested in.

If we aren't on his list now is the time to get it done.  Enough screwing around.

Only if the return is reasonable. While I'd love to make a deal as much as anyone else, we can't go making trades to make trades. We're probably a year ahead of schedule right now and don't want to get rid of future pieces/trade chips now while we frankly need more than just one high-level starter.
