Kevin Brown absence explained?

Amazing what they write when they aren't on the payroll and have no threat of retribution. Too much to quote out of this one, but one of the last few paragraphs summed it up perfectly.

Instead, he’s ruining what could be a great thing by not completing tasks, by asserting authority where he doesn’t belong, by not spending money on payroll and extensions and by continually coming across as a spoiled rich kid who must get his way without reproach.

Ultimately, this Kevin Brown “negative stats” disaster is just another swing and a miss for Angelos, who apparently is furious that all this became public.

Quite believable actually haha.  Can’t believe how stupid this entire fiasco is.

Agreed.  It should be unbelievable, but what a small-minded reaction from small-minded people.

Nothing wins fans over like silencing them.  Hope the muting of the fans gets covered.

Love seeing megalomaniacs get embarrassed, really feeds me on a deep level.

They are muting the stadium noise on the radio feed whenever the Free Kevin Brown chants kick up.

On the national TBS feed, they actually accentuated/enhanced the crowd noise the first time the chant started up. That gave an opportunity for the announcers to discuss the issue. They both backed Brown of course.

When they chanted again in the 8th, they left the audio normal and the announcers only quickly mentioned the chants are back and that Brown was due back on air Friday.

Imagine being upset that the pst could reflect poorly on you while knowing that you are the one who wanted to tank, not spend money, etc…

In other words, it was your idea and your plan to do this and you are worried that people will think poorly of you. Is that you saying you know you were dumb?

I was just checking to see if others had noticed that.  Unbelievable.

Noticed it.NIce to have a seven second  tape delay. Maybe they can put on the scoreboard " We Love John Angelos ". Better chant along or might be escorted out. John Angelos we love you give away

As the Clash said "Working for the Clampdown".

I'm sure he is furious. He's a total laughingstock now. He's a petty, vindictive, mentally unstable tinpot dictator.

Its like one of the responded tweets said. Elias was so honest at the beginning that they would be bad and promised things would get better. Angelos never believed that plan. Probably also why he said the money would be there when they get to the point of spending.

Angelos never believed any of this. He probably either a.) literally thinks he is the chick in Major League and they get so bad he can easily move them to Nashville. (don't tell me the thought of moving them never crossed his mind) or b.) the plan would fail and it would be an excuse to continue to be cheap

Huh. B. is a very interesting theory that I could totally believe, but never really thought of.

    • Mayo coming back from injury could have his debut in Baltimore delayed.
    • Wasn't a huge fan of his swing for that last out today but coming in to pinch hit with 2 outs isn't easy.
    • Interpreting Malike's comment that way is theoretically possible, but I didn't take it that way--didn't feel that shade was being thrown on me at all. But thanks for the concern.
    • People are being a bit ridiculous with the holier than thou takes criticizing a little humor. I am not saying what happened couldn’t cause a significant concussion, but it would be a bit of a fluke if it did. Mullins barely hit him with the bat and he had a helmet on. The fact that it was in the back of the head did make him more vulnerable, but this wasn’t the type of thing you see and think he was lucky to be alive.  Guys have probably hit their heads harder on the top of the dugout or on the fence making catches.  And note this comes from someone whose son has suffered severe concussions and who is well aware of the dangers associated with them. In short, people need to lighten up a bit on guys like Roy.  It was a little gallows humor.
    • Yeah, you read that wrong. LA2 is one of my favorite posters here and he knows it. No harm, no foul. If you aren't familiar with the game threads, it doesn't matter what the team is doing, people complain about it and people did make that same joke in the game thread long before Roy said it here. Game thread in summary - when the O's are not doing well, it's insufferable, when they are doing well, it's mildly less insufferable. There, that wasn't hard. I'd appreciate it if you didn't assume I'm throwing shade at people. I'll leave that up to you to do, you're really good at it.
    • Comp a. Like Gunnar, and beavers…
    • Wasn't Westburg a 2nd round draft pick?  It's a little early to judge last year's draft.
