I'm not impressed by how little MASN has helped the O's.  It seems on the order of $50 million goes to the O's from MASN.  Even bottom of the barrel Oakland A's that have been in the process of moving for a while receive $60 million/yr from their cable deal.

Money went to the O's and money went to the owners of MASN.

I've said it before, the Angelos family squandered a real opportunity with MASN.  They went as cheap and low effort as possible.

I guess it depends on the reporters definition of change. Hopefully it makes for smoother dealings between the two clubs. But, if she’s expecting these billionaires owners to give up their market advantage I think she’s going to be disappointed.

Pretty on brand.

The ones I don't understand yet are the three investors from the Ares group.

Apparently Ares has made a lot of investments in sports properties in recent years.  I stumbled on this two-year old article today: https://www.sportico.com/business/finance/2021/ares-invests-1-billion-sports-1234633179/

Grant Hill is a member of Ares’ advisory board for its sports and media fund. He is also a part owner of the Atlanta Hawks, whose principal owner is a co-founder of Ares management.

Here is an interview with Michael Arougheti in which he talks about the purchase at the 12:50 mark.

Here is Ares’ perspective on sports investing: https://www.kedglobal.com/data/ked/video/ask/2021/ares-pdf-2.pdf

It's hard to find buyers for a fixer-upper when it's right next door to the most beautiful showroom house in the neighborhood.

My guess is that they weren't happy with the price so they are hoping for another sale that they can comp.

Here is a thought.

During ST Elias will be looking to determine if and when Bradish will be able to pitch for the O's this year.  Will he be the Bradish of 2023 or something less than that?

If the answer turns out negative and teams continue the stare down with Boras for Montgomery and Snell, might the O's offer a short term deal to one  of those pitchers?   Might Rubenstein tell JA and Elias to make that move?

Rosenthal is reporting that neither Texas nor the Yankees are in a position to take on either of those two players salaries.

While I would love for the new ownership group will open up the checkbook for some high end FA's, I'm not getting my hopes up until it happens. They can certainly afford to do it but will they?

The Yankees have a current offer out to Snell according to reports. They were embarrassed last season and I highly doubt that they will let money stop them.

Someone always bails out the last few FA's each season. Baltimore needs another pitcher...I can't answer if they'll actually do it though.

    • The outfield might be slick from all the rain. I think that can influence lineup decisions.
    • @Bahama O's Fanor a free trial of any streaming platform. YouTube TV, Directtv, etc.
    • I’ve been rending my garments over Adley and his struggles for months now. But I will say that it seems like a bit of an odd time to come together as a group on the notion of benching him — just as he’s been starting to show some signs of being Adley again.  Over the last week of the season, Adley had a 50% hard hit rate and an average EV of 89.9 MPH. Those numbers absolutely dwarf what he was doing for months, when he was sitting at more like a 26% HH rate and an 85 MPH EV. Anecdotally, I can’t even remember the last time we saw Adley drive a ball into the left-center gap like he did multiple times against MIN. That’s Adley at his very best, and it was a sight for sore eyes.  I’m not sold that he’s 100% back, and I would still stick with McCann catching Burnes tomorrow (especially since using Adley as the DH is viable with a LHP starter in Ragans). But I sincerely doubt we can run the table without at least a few stretches of Adley being Adley — so I think this recent spurt is probably enough to warrant sending him out there every day still, in hopes that he really is getting it locked back in.
    • Apparently, if you just waited to buy tickets, you could just basically go for free. Well done orioles.
    • Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?
    • It’s my understanding that nationally televised games are usually blacked out. Consider a free trial subscription of Fubo if they are still offering it.
    • The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
