How’s the East look now?

So how does the East look now? It sure looks like B-more is the team to beat?

Hi, btw

Glad to see you back!

I don't believe Baltimore will be guaranteed anything in '24, but they certainly have one of the most complete teams in the East. It would be nice to see an under the radar BP piece before opening day.

Hi, btw

Long time, no see. I was wondering if you would ever pop up again. I don't think it will happen, but it would be awesome if the Orioles signed Snell or Montgomery to fill out the rotation. And by extension it would improve the bullpen as well.

I wonder if the Orioles would have targeted Hader if the sale was announced sooner. I'm guessing probably not, but maybe Rubenstein wants to make a real splash in bolstering this team for a World Series run.

Hi, btw

You’re alive?   Seriously, I was worried something bad had happened to you because you disappeared so suddenly.  Welcome back.

Still worried about Redskins Rick and El Gordo.

AL East will dominate again…

NYY - Cole, Judge, Soto.  Rodon?  Stroman? Stanton, Rizzo, LeMaheiu?  Does Volpe or any rookies contribute?  A lot has to break right, but definitely have the talent.

TBR - No Glasgow, Franco.  Some injuries and some retuning from injuries.  Caminero, Bradley.  Figures to be a down year but they always seem to outperform expectations.

BOS - Improving but still a lot to prove in all aspects of the game.  I think they’re heading in the right direction as a team.

TOR - Plus SP depth, not a lot of offensive depth.  Can Vlad and Bichette bounce back?

BAL - Should be the favorites on paper…. Young, improving team.  Can Gunnar maintain/take the next step?  Injuries?  Have resources to get better at the deadline.  3 stud rotation.  SP depth.  Quality prospects on the horizon.  Depth across the field.

That's a name I haven't heard in a LONG time.  He has to have been gone for 3 years now at this point.

The Yankees have a chance to have a stellar pitching staff. Rodon is one of the most important players in the AL. If he can stay healthy and he what he was a few years ago, the Yankees will have 2 of the top 5 CY candidates and an excellent BP that is littered with guys that miss bats and rack up Ks.  The problem with NY is will they hit enough and how many hits will that OF defense give up?

Tampa is always going to be there no matter what happens with Wander. However, can they start to avoid this big injuries they keep getting?  At some point, that will catch up to them.

Toronto has excellent starting pitching and the bats to go up against anyone but the pen seems iffy and they need some guys to stay healthy.

Boston isn’t likely to be that good but they can hit.  Just don’t see the pitching being that good.

I think the Os are the most complete team in the  division but the pen is a potential issue and that needs to get figured out.  The Os also have some low floors on offense due to health and young guys needing to establish themselves but the offense should be good enough and it has a potential to be special.

Last posted in 2019, last visited 8/1/22.  Redskins Rick last posted 6/24/22 and last visited 12/29/22.   Both those guys had health issues.   So, I worry what happened to them.  Neither had an incident on the board that would have caused them to suddenly quit, so far as I know.

We still have to dodge Montgomery and Snell. Odds are that one ends up in our division. Let’s hope not both. Let’s hope the Mariners somehow created some payroll, or an NL team gets involved.

Burnes
Montgomery
Bradish
Rodriguez
Means

Kremer and prospects for Devin Williams.

    • He makes $43 million this year. The Mets are paying $21 million of that. I don’t think we pick up the remaining $10+ post deadline for 10-12 starts. It would just depend on what Texas would ask for to pick up the tab.
    • Haynie on 105.7, has been beating the Luis Robert drum for months on the O’s pre game show. So I think that’s why people like the idea of Robert. Robert also is always hurt.  We need a bat. Probably a RH bat to DH in the playoffs versus a LH SP. That bat is Mayo. It’s just hard to get Mayo up before September when we get the extra roster spot.
    • Holliday went 1 for 2 with 3 walks on Friday night. 2024: .444 OBP, .911 OPS MiLB Career: .447 OBP, .931 OPS His OBP is EXACTLY what this O's team needs, would fill a key offensive weakness at 2nd base, help grind opposing pitching, and magnify the power up and down the lineup.  It's all dependent on his ability to throw and play 2B at a passable level. If Holliday starts to hit at the ML level, the question of who bats leadoff is over for the foreseeable future and we can go back to complaining about 1 slumping hitter or backup catcher at the bottom of the lineup.
    • This. We literally have no lineup holes right now, and Mayo, Norby, Jax lurk. Any trade discussion should center around the four most essential and crucial elements to O's success for the balance of the regular season and playoffs: 1. pitching 2. pitching 3. pitching 4. damn, forgot the 4th one. oh yeah, its pitching.
    • All I know is that Suárez has earned at least one more start, after today.
    • Scherzer still looks like a guy who would be a nice add to our rotation in the second half if the Rangers are sellers.
    • Not happening. I don’t disagree, but Kremer will be slotted in the rotation.
