I don’t know why people keep lumping O’Hearn in on posts like this. The guy had one of the few over .800 OPS on the team last year. He’s not remotely the problem.

I heard that he was initially scheduled to be DH, but told Hyde, “if Burnes doesn’t want me to catch him, then I don’t wanna play!”  Then he was seen softly sobbing in a corner of the locker room.

After the YES guys told us that Stroman is a GB pitcher and the Rays are GB hitters, leadoff HR off Stroman followed by three fly balls/line drives to the OFs. Stroman sinker not sinking, it appears.

NYYs loaded the bases with one out, didn't score. :newcry:  1-0 TB after the first.

I think his RH bat vs Leftys makes him an asset right now. Although I believe Mayo could replace that production

Yeah, what could possibly be the basis on which Hays (.788 career OPS vs LHPs) should play against lefties over the likes of O’Hearn (.543), Mullins (.661), or Cowser (.664)?

I absolutely agree Mayo could replace Hays offensive production.   But probably not his OF defense.  

But we have other guys Mayo could improve on, such as Urias.   Can't believe Mayo won't be up soon.

Zero mention of Ramon tonight on the broadcast, no shots of him in the dugout. Wagner spent a whole 5 minutes talking about Gunnar being a late addition to the lineup and Westburg taking grounders at 3rd before the game WITHOUT somehow ever mentioning Urias. 

Really bizarre. Or just terrible broadcasting.

This was baffling to me too. Several mentions of Gunnar getting the “emergency start,” but absolutely no reference to what the “emergency” consisted of.

I do expect him to be traded soon.  The Braves lost Albies with what sounds like a broken wrist today and are very thin at 2nd so could be option for them.

      He probably had 2+ weeks against live pitching in Florida and now 3 weeks against A and A + pitching.   It’s possible that it’s just rust and timing.   Didn’t seem to effect Anderson, Stafford, Overn, and O’Ferrall that much who all pretty much hit right away in Delmarva.

      Honeycutt only struck out 20% his sophomore year but he also hit .257 with 12 homers.  But, at least we know he made adjustments in college and tried to make more contact before reverting back to what worked better for him in college. I don’t think his performance is a “nothing burger”.    It might not be the worst thing though.  I would suspect that Honeycutt might be more open to making whatever changes the Orioles hitting instructors have in mind. I do think, even this fairly SSS is further confirmation that Honeycutt needs some pretty significant swing/setup/approach changes that some evaluators were suggesting pre-draft.

      Think Stanley was called for FOUR illegal formation penalties? Ravens need to figure this out.  Either Stanley is real bad at his job or the refs are real bad at theirs.   Or coaching or all of the above.

      At the time of the trade, I’d agree with your description of Johnson and Chace.    It’s kind of scary how each was promoted and put up really good numbers (SSS) at the next level after the trade.  Each, are among the few pitching prospects we have in the upper minors that actually sit mid 90’s. My fear is that in hindsight this trade is going to look a lot, lot worse than it did at the deadline.

      Someone on the O's staff thinks they can make Rogers into an asset.  They would not have traded for him otherwise. Agree with this. Let the trade play out. Has to be some other plan than 4 Sh*t starts and a demotion. Sans injuries he probably no more fit into this Post Season than Norby or Stowers. Maybe he can be a future piece.
