The Orioles Have Stolen One Base

I am not saying they should be running all of the time, but it’s odd that they have one SB on one attempt.  They should be running at least a bit more.

Mateo and Mullins aren't getting on base

Interesting stat. Last year Orioles were 6th in AL with 114. Only caught 24 times. 
 

Mateo had 32 and Mullins 19. Frazier was 3rd with 11. Gunnar had 10 and Hicks with 6. 
 

Mateo hasn’t played much and has the only steal. Mullins hasn’t been getting on base much. I think so far that’s the biggest reason and perhaps some of it is circumstances. I would think they will run more than they have so far.

This year's team may not run much. I don't think Mateo will play enough to reach 30+ again and Mullins may not push it as much after all these small leg injuries. Last year he stole 11 in March/April and no more than 4 in any other month. 

Although I think Gunnar could steal 20ish if he decides to.

I bet he could retain the 75-80% rate he was at last year even if he ran more often.

Mullins and Mateo both got had injuries last year. The computer probably says not to run.

Cold weather no need to force it by stealing bases right now. Also as mentioned Mullins and Mateo aren't getting on base.

My guess is they ran some SIGBOT numbers and have decided the juice is not worth the squeeze in most cases.

I’m thinking the right situations haven’t arisen much.  That can happen in a 7 game span.

Part of it is that we have either had been leads or been playing from behind. Worth keeping an eye on.
