The Orioles had not had such a streak in a single season since 1989, but they had an overlap streak from 1995-96.  It's the 18th such streak in team history.  The other 17 are below.  If you were a fan in 1974, you almost ceratinly remember the 5 straight shutouts amid a 10-game win streak that rocketed the Orioles back into the race vs the Red Sox and Yankees from 8 back on the morning of 8/29/74.  Even if you weren't a fan then, Palmer brings it up all the time.

Perhaps. But I think more likely is that go 6 man rotation (with Burnes staying on 5 day rest routine).  It could potentially help manage workloads and injuries for Grayson, Bradish, Means.

There goes that streak.    You’re like the Kevin Brown of OH hangout.   😃

As soon as Brown says Westburg hasn’t made an error in 62 games he makes a bad throw.  As soon as he says Rutschman has the best chase rate in baseball he swings at two pitches way out of the zone.   As soon as Brown says this Oriole reliever hasn’t walked anyone in two weeks I say “Shut up, Kevin!”

There is always room for Grayson.  He moves someone into the pen no matter what.

Hyde might need to have an uncomfortable discussion with Kremer that he is being moved to the pen soon.

I like when the a team has a rotation full of guys pitching at an above average level, competing with each other.  Other guys are competing to get in the rotation.  I don't think this has happened for the O's since the early 80's.  Can anyone think of a time since then when the O's had a rotation full of at least average starters pitching well?  Maybe mid 90's?

It could still be both. I’ve been in the “let’s see what we got” camp and it’s working out better than even I expected. Irvin is definitely exceeding expectations, great to see Means and Bradish back. 

That said, if Bradish and Means stay healthy, the rotation looks great. If there are more health issues, then the folks who forewarned that the O’s need to add another starter for depth will have a point.

I’m happy with the potential traffic jam we currently have with the starters.

I don't think there so much griping about upgrading the rotation after the Burnes trade got done.  But to the extent there was it was because few people felt Bradish and Means would give us anything this season.

Really most of the criticism was about not having done enough to upgrade the bullpen, especially thinking Wells would be in the rotation.

There was a fair amount. A lot of posts said Burnes was just a replacement for Bradish who was destined for TJS, that we needed to sign Montgomery, and when we didn’t there was quite a bit of frustration. I also wanted Montgomery, but we seem to be doing just fine without him.

      In terms of energy?   e = 1/2 mv^2 football: 60 mph -> 26.8 m/s, 14.5 oz = .411 kg.  1/2 * (26.8^2) * .411 = 147.5 joules. baseball: 102 mph -> 45.59 m/s, 5 oz = .142 kg.  1/2 * (45.59^2) * .142 = 147.5 joules.   I don't think they're 100% equivalent - I think the higher raw speed on the arm of a 102 mph pitch introduces more stress on the arm than a 60 mph football throw.  But they're not that far off.

      There is no chance that over 60 mph for a QB is the equivalent of 102.  QBs do not train for velocity like pitchers do.

      I would prefer they ask for Jon Gray in spite of the Orioles destroying him in his last start - he wouldn't have to face the Orioles lineup again.

      He makes $43 million this year. The Mets are paying $21 million of that. I don’t think we pick up the remaining $10+ post deadline for 10-12 starts. It would just depend on what Texas would ask for to pick up the tab.

      Haynie on 105.7, has been beating the Luis Robert drum for months on the O’s pre game show. So I think that’s why people like the idea of Robert. Robert also is always hurt.  We need a bat. Probably a RH bat to DH in the playoffs versus a LH SP. That bat is Mayo. It’s just hard to get Mayo up before September when we get the extra roster spot.

      Holliday went 1 for 2 with 3 walks on Friday night. 2024: .444 OBP, .911 OPS MiLB Career: .447 OBP, .931 OPS His OBP is EXACTLY what this O's team needs, would fill a key offensive weakness at 2nd base, help grind opposing pitching, and magnify the power up and down the lineup.  It's all dependent on his ability to throw and play 2B at a passable level. If Holliday starts to hit at the ML level, the question of who bats leadoff is over for the foreseeable future and we can go back to complaining about 1 slumping hitter or backup catcher at the bottom of the lineup.

      This. We literally have no lineup holes right now, and Mayo, Norby, Jax lurk. Any trade discussion should center around the four most essential and crucial elements to O's success for the balance of the regular season and playoffs: 1. pitching 2. pitching 3. pitching 4. damn, forgot the 4th one. oh yeah, its pitching.
