Well, he came into the game with a 2.68 ERA and 1.006 WHIP, both better than his career averages.

I'm perfectly fine with him just sta ying this good all year.

Can you imagine if that was just the tip Of the iceberg though ?

Is that an accepted piece of contemporary wisdom, or just your opinion?

Bill James advocated bating your best hitter second, IIRC, rejecting the many-decades-old wisdom that you bat your best hitter third -- unless he's a home run hitter and you have a guy who's almost as good to hit third, right ahead of him, or unless he's an on-base, low-power leadoff guy. It made since to me, and still does, to hit your best on-base guy (who will take some pitches) first and your best hitter second. That balances giving your best hitter more ABs and having him come up with a runner (or more) on so he can drive in more runs.

There are many studies that suggest batting order has almost no impact on the game. You lead off once a game unless you are being no-hit. You can die on the hill you're standing on, the research is out there and it's up to you to trust it or not. I'm sure @DrungoHazewood would explain it more eloquently than I can.

lets get one or two more runs...Burnes has just one more inning ...Kirby has a low pitch count...

Kirby also added a run to his ERA. I hope he stays in.

NYY about to go 9-1 in their last 10.

if Stanton, Soto, and Judge are healthy 130 games or more the Yankees offensive rivals the 27 Yankees.   There is nothing the Orioles can do about it.  I am not going to worry if they end up winning 110 games.  We will see if that ends up happening or not.
