Not sure what they teach, but a glove in front of base on ground closes off more lanes to the base compared to a moving glove

Soto should be used in mop up time.  Preferably if we are losing by 5 or more, possibly if winning by 10 or more.

So you bring in a righty there and have the platoon disadvantage 2/3.

Or you bring in the lefty and wind up having the platoon disadvantage 2/3 because they pinch hit.   But at least you make them use a bench piece they won't have available later.

So from a purely strategic point of view, ignoring the talent of the pitchers involved, the proper move there is to use the lefty.

I always worry about pop ups with him because of vertigo episodes.  Looking up can be difficult even when not in an episode for me.
