So from a purely strategic point of view, ignoring the talent of the pitchers involved, the proper move there is to use the lefty.

Go with an arm that doesn’t have platoon splits. It’s the bottom of the lineup. I’m not sure Soto is in trust territory, yet.

Yes but only if you are in position to do it, he didn't expect Mullins to bobble the ball so his footwork was late-he was reaching.  It's tough on  Hollliday, all his muscle memory is based on playing SS since he was 5, he's just late reacting to things.

I feel like Mullins just takes the same swing every pitch and if pitcher throws it in path he can hit it but if not it an out.

He and Mayo are looking like automatic outs in the 7 an 8 spots here.    Weak grounders a high % of the time, Cedric throws in some popups for variety.    Thank goodness we have Holliday at 9 so the opposing pitcher can't coast throught he bottom 3.

I'll bet we see Slater get a start over Mullins vs a righty at least once in Toronto.
