Elias throwing down ringers on Nashville battling for 2nd half 2nd place in the IL West.

If they both play same game, I guess will be notable who is 2B and who is 3B.

Will the teammates take one car down?      Holiday Inn Express, or maybe Coby Mayo's apartment is available for sublet?

I'll guess 2 at-bats Thursday, 3 at-bats Friday, and 4 at-bats Sunday in Baltimore so Yankees arms aren't the very first ones they see back.

That’s possible.

Is one or two games in Norfolk too short of a rehab?

I don't see the downside in trying to get them into games this weekend, given the struggles of the offense.  I would think having them up by Tuesday at the latest would be a given, assuming health.

Getting them healthy is by far the top priority. Of course I want them back ASAP.

Well, to be starting rehab games they have been deemed healthy by someone or close enough to 100 percent.  I think it's about getting them some kind of reps of live action at this point, and quickly getting them on the roster for the stretch run.

O'Hearn has already cost the team valuable at bats that could have gone to Norby, Kjerstad, and Mayo, ultimately lowering this team's offensive ceiling. It's well past time to move on from O'Hearn and commit to the future of the team. I was against bringing back O'Hearn from the beginning of the season precisely because he was blocking too many good prospects, and because he was a limited, unproven commodity.

Can we wait until Mayo picks up maybe a third or fourth MLB hit before conveniently lumping him into this statement?  OHearn may suck right now but Mayo is Liberace suck at this point.

Not sure why but it was planned.  He faced 3 batters.

Ya I just watched his inning on MiLB.com. He looked pretty sharp. They replaced him with a RH after his 3 batters, looked completely normal. The O's must want him on the roster, probably to be available on Friday?

That’s my thinking. Part of me is a little surprised they aren’t giving him more rehab innings but there isn’t much season left and I’m sure they want him in ML Games, especially before the playoffs start.

And... McDermott looked pretty sharp too, especially his splitter/change. Lots of whiffs on that pitch.

    • You would think it would be closer to 74 with the way they are playing
    • Elias said it the other day
    • I'm actually less impressed with the luck designation here. While I definitely think they've had *some* bad luck, for example: Gunnar's 3 run dinger robbed by Jose Siri, this club doesn't really drive the ball well enough that BABIP is much of an indicator for them. It'd be different, say, if this team 1-9 had their regulars, but they are starting guys who are just hitting things weakly which would mean a lower BABIP but not indicative of "bad luck". Luck doesn't explain how abysmal this team has been over the last 30+ days.  They are 26th in OBP. That isn't luck. They are 21st in stolen bases. Not luck. Just not a dynamic team here. They are 29th in batting average with THE GIANTS 28th. Some luck here, sure, but not this bad. They are 28th in OPS. Some luck here, sure, but not this bad. They are 28th in slugging. Some luck here, sure, but not this bad. I think we just need to say it. This is a bad offensive team. O'Hearn exposed as a regular, Mayo and Holliday are overmatched, Eloy turned back into a pumpkin, Slater as well. Point be told, while there might be some bad luck with guys like Adley or Gunnar, there's not much of an excuse for guys like Mullins weakly popping up, or Tony continuing to roll over things, or half the lineup being AAAA players this year. It's a bad offensive team mostly due to injuries and the rookies being abysmal. That's it. No mystery to it.
    • Per Jake Rill/MLB.com, Westburg and Urias are starting rehab assignments, "should be followed by first baseman Ryan Mountcastle". That might be the first I've seen anything about Mountcastle coming back. However, it's not clear to me whether there is a source here or just speculation.  https://www.mlb.com/news/orioles-drop-series-to-giants
    • Overall it was clearly better. They were nearly as frustrating though because they were having 2-3 awful performances mixed in a week with 1-2 very good ones, which made the runs per game look solid even though everyone watching could see something was not right.
    • I don't really disagree, but where do you have to go to get these pitchers that throw the types of pitches described above?
    • Not giving you a hard time but how has the offense been a little bit  better though? I feel it's every bit as bad now then it's ever been during these 3 months if not even more a little worst then a couple of months ago.
