I thought Adley would be able to throw like that when we drafted him. Big difference.

He is not an athlete.  This has been said on here before but it was poo poo'd.    We all saw that.

Holliday was a kid who was fortunate enough to be born with some baseball ability due to his fathers genes and who grew up since he was  practically a baby being around baseball.   And that was all he played since he was a baby.  Baseball.  He was taking batting practice at major league stadiums since he was 8 for example.   He had a huge advantage as a kid as a result compared to most other kids.

But he is small, not quick, not overly strong, and has no outstanding athletic traits.  All the kids that were much more athletic and that played other sports as kids besides baseball?    They start to peak at age 20-24.  They have a higher ceiling.

Holliday has already peaked.

When you hire a guy who was a highschool teacher-coach with one year experience in professional baseball as a coach, and another with what, three years as a minor league hitting coach, you don't exactly have guys with a lot of experience with helping guys get out of slumps.

The Orioles have gone to the technocoach without offsetting that with actual professional hitting coaches with real experience.

Yeah... I'm all for going old school with hitting coaches.

No baseball IQ from Slater. Snell lost his control and he’s up there hacking.

Slater's OBP nonetheless at a good .343 for the Orioles. If he swang it's probably because he thought he had a decent chance.

Remember when a team had a manager, hitting coach, pitching coach, 1st base coach and third base coach only?

Now they have this many coaches and the team can't hit, has poor fielding and poor fundamentals.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. The playes hear too much chatter and either tune them out, or get flustered guessing at what's expected of them.
