Our current regulars since June 21 and August 17

With our regular lineup back on the field, I thought I’d list out their OPS’s since (1) June 21, the date the team’s general slide began, and (2) August 17, the day the serious offensive slump began.  (The team averaged over 5 runs/game from June 21-Aug. 16).   These are the players I expect to see most of the time in the postseason.

Rutschman .609/.561

Mountcastle .621/.401 (6 games only)

O’Hearn .669/.501

You can readily see my point that the offense has been far worse since August 17 than it was during the earlier part of the team slump, which was primarily (not entirely) due to poor pitching.  And really, we need contributions from Adley, Mountcastle and O’Hearn in order for our offense to get untracked during the postseason.  Other guys have had mild slumps but these three have dropped off dramatically dating back to June 21.  It’s nice that we have our regulars back, but these guys need to pick it up.

No other way to say it, but Adley's falloff has really hurt this club. The dropoff of O'Hearn, while somewhat expected due to Mounty's injury, has also been prolific. Santander's numbers are buoyed a bit by a hot streak, but he's been very lackluster in key situations.

Generally, the top/middle of the order has been a disappointment and doubly so with RISP.

I really hope there is some kind of injury that Adley is dealing with. If he cant get back to an .800 plus OPS catcher, that is a serious damper in our organizational future.
