Gershon is such a great guy though. He was fabulous as the Zodiac Killer.

The only reason he got close to that ball is because he has phenomenal range. Backhanding a ball that is hit hard with some topspin on it while moving that fast is pretty darn tough. Roberts doesn't get within a step of that ball so effectively Callaspo is being penalized for having great range. I don't think it was an error, but to each their own.

But an error is not based on some standard player. It's not to say that any ball hit to a spot should be fielded cleanly by each player.

The ball hit off his glove and he should have knocked it down to prevent the run from scoring. You said yourself that he would like to have that play back, so he himself thought he should have had it. Then I say it's an error.
