Alex White's latest

North Carolina righthander Alex White looked great in the first inning tonight against Virginia, pumping fastballs in the 94-97 mph range, according to a National League scout on hand.

That was the highlight of White’s outing. Virginia chased him in a 10-run third inning, eight of which were charged to White (though three of those runs were inherited by Brian Moran, who was hit harder than he’s been hit since the 2008 College World Series).

Wow, if his stuff is truely deemed as fixable, it would be pretty nice to have a guy pumping 97 MPH sinkers at opposing batter's knees in OPACY. But who knows if it really is fixable that he is doing wrong, and if there is a flaw in his mechanics, who knows that if we fix that flaw that it will fix his troubles with giving up hits and runs....

That is why I advocate Scheppers and Crow. Crow has a fastball that tops out around 97 and has really good movement on it as well. It may not sink like Whites, but it apparently as some good run on it, not to mention Crow's secondary pitches, especially this year are far far superior. This isnt even mentioning Crows good command.....But I still wouldnt be disappointed with a White 1:5 pick......
