Remember when Davearm argued that it was a tossup about who was more valuable, Markakis or Murton? God I wish he was still here posting.

Murton may not be Markakis, but he's gotten a raw deal.

Murton's main problem is that he doesn't elevate the ball. He hits 55% ground balls, 28% fly balls. 1970 has talked about how Nick needs to hit more flyballs to develop his power, and this year he's sitting at 42%/40%. Murton is closer to Juan Pierre's 55/22. Or Ichiro's 57/25. Without sprinter speed he profiles as more of a bit player, and there aren't too many jobs for guys who're most valuable as the RH half of a left field platoon.
