"Buck Showalter's got to be pleased with his team here." - Jim Hunter, Rear Admiral Good ship Lollipop

Oh, yeah they've battled back, but they've still given up 11 runs in 5 freakin' innings. What a dolt!

Hardy made a very good play in the bottom of the third, but he threw the ball in the dirt. Bad throw by Hardy, and a bad scoop attempt by Chris Davis. That would have been the 3rd out of the inning, and those 5 runs that they got after that would not have scored. We would be up 8-6 right now if Hardy had taken his time and made a better throw and/or Davis had made a better scoop. Damn it. :angryfire:

Hardy had absolutely zero chance of taking more time on that play. It was all on Davis, he played the ball as a catch, not a scoop. Had he allowed the ball to bounce before lunging his glove at it, he would have probably made the catch. McDonald is no slowpoke, Hardy had no choice but to rush, and his throw should have been caught.

I saw the play, Hardy had time to make a better throw. But yes, Reynolds would have almost certainly made that scoop that Davis didn't.
