Offer to Angels on the table

As Bigbird said this is just an offer. Tejada has a cannon for an arm at SS but if he can't range into the hole what good is it? Cal never had the strongest arm but his player knowledge and positioning more than made up for it. Like a previous poster said, the only opinion on Tejada's value thats important are the scouts of teams interested in trading for him. I personnally feel Wood/Saunders would be a steal. Maybe there are teams that would give much more. Until something happens we will never know.

Read into this as little or as much as you want. I was told we have an offer on the table to trade Tejada to the Angels for Wood and Saunders. The ball in in LAs court. Lots of things are starting to happen. He also said the chance to sign Bedard is slim to none! IF we can't get a kings ransom for him he wil not be traded this off season!

Who, I ask, is going to pay a "king's ransom" for Bedard?????

With this info in hand, I predict Bedard won't be traded!!!!!

Probably a team that's trying to win the World Series this year or next. Look at what the Braves gave up for Teixeira last year.

Anyone know when Adam Loewen will be back?

If we don't get a kings ransom for Erik it's not like a rotation of Bedard, Saunders, Loewen, Guthrie, Cabrera would be all that bad.

I read somewhere that he's resuming his throwing and is all set for spring training. Sorry I can't verify that though

Are you high?

<img src = "http://www.allstarssportsacademy.com/trivia/baseball_diamond.jpg">

Look again, 3b has a longer throw almost every time, especially if a SS is ranging up towards second base. The throw in the hole/foul territory for a 3b is way longer than any throw a SS will have to make.

I'll let you play the range card next, want to take a stab at it?

I can't the image to post right, so here's a link.

That's true if the SS is palying close to the line (like positions 1, 2, and 3). Those throws range from 104.4' to 123.9', which are all shorter than the 127.3' from 3B to 1B. But, the SS almost never plays that close to the line. More often, he's much closer to the OF grass. Positions 4 and 5 require a throw to travel 137.2' and 145.5' (longer than the typical 3B throw). And, if the SS has to move to his right to field a ball in the hole, he not only has a longer throw...but, his momentum is also taking him away from the 1B.

Saunder is what he is a back of the rotation starter. He doesn't walk a lot of guys, and he doesn't give up a lot of home runs. He would be a good cheap back of the rotation starter, and he can eat some innings. I'm pretty sure he made our hitters look bad last year, although who didn't.

All I know is I trust the judgement of MacPhail. Remember their meeting down in Florida not only went over their prospects but other teams prospects. If he and our scouts believe Wood and Saunders is a good return for Tejada then I'll go with their decision.

Does this offer say anything about our plans for Bedard?

They seem to think the Dodgers are being "aggressive". Does that translate into a kings ransom?

He had an ops of like .570 last year.
BEcause this really means a lot. He had 194 ab's and only 71 from JUne 1 until the end of the season. He had injury issues I believe. So really, his first 123 ab's(in April and May) were what killed his OPS...He was young and struggled early in his ML career...Gee, that never happens! .
FYI, he hasn't had an ops of +800 since he was in high a ball. His last extended time in the minors in AAA he had an ops of 740. Where is the ops of 800 coming from?
His CAREER MiL OPS is 810..Which is what I said.
I hope you're not foolish enough to put much stock in #s from the low minors a couple of years ago.
In 2005, he posted a 795 OPS at AA at age 21...He had almost 50 XBH...That is not a bad AA season for a 21 y/o. The following year, 2006 in AAA, he was brought up to the majors...He started off the season off very well...Then he was brought up to the majors and barely used. He was terrible in the month of August, partly due to not playing I am sure.

FWIW, I don't think he's ever going to steal bases w much profeciency- I mean he never has before.
Yea because players never improve any aspect of their game as they get older and get better coaching.

Someone call Jtrea and NMS, it's finally heating up ;)

I'm here too, 8 pages later. I am glad a deal is on the table. I doubt the Angels do anything before the Cabrera stuff gets settled, though. I like this deal. I don't know what Moose is thinking. I would have traded Tejada for Wood straight up so I am happy they could be getting another decent SP in the trade.
